I'm really excited about putting together the 10-song Chemical Restraint (Deluxe!) E.P. It will be streaming everywhere on October 31st, but, of course, it will be available here as soon as the paint is done drying.
It's almost all new material that's gonna be a little different than some of the other things the Widows have already released. The lead-off track, My Precious Bones, is a perfect example. After reviewing and demoing many tracks, it appears that we are still honing and perfecting a unique signature sound that is unexpectedly expanding beyond its original conceptualization and constantly reshaping itself—and it's a fun ride!
Oh. What is a 'B-52', you say?
It's a colloquial term for the use of a mix of a benzodiazepine, Benadryl, and an anti-psychotic (a particularly potent cocktail that will stupefy even the most belligerent patient) to control unruly guests while in the psych ward. As It can be dangerous, its use is considered dubious in most medical circles. Still, I know psych nurses who say they have seen situations where it was simply a necessity because a patient was so uncontrollably violent and seeking to harm others or themselves that there was no other conceivable choice but to administer the drugs. Still, it has been known to be fatal to people with heart issues, specific allergies, and other medical concerns.
Fun Fact!! : The medical term for this type of emergency sedation is also known as a chemical restraint.
You're welcome, internet. Goodnight.
